Xiang Cui was born in Xi’an city of Shanxi province in 1981. In 2002, he graduated form the Shanxi Art Academy. He created in Concave-Convex Art Community in Shanghai. Now he creates in Songzhuang of Beijing specializing in portraits (oil painting) and contemporary oil painting creating activities.

Loving to painting since child makes today’s I. Painting with crayon before study to painting with various dyes under the guidance of teacher, and then to create personal works all show my zealousness to paint.
I like oil painting, deep color of oil paintings use which to express my thoughts is the happiest thing to me. My creation of oil painting is out of understanding to life and society. I like the contrast of colors which can establish contrast color on other color; I like the vivid paintings which are rich and clear. I don’t like the dark of oppressive colors. Before I starting the oil painting, I first paint a color which I like, then I put other colors on it which can complete the colors or make other colors out of one kind. Black is a basic contrast color and it can make any other color to be beautiful. The existence of red is out of appearance, color, lines, whole form of frame. Blue can make the painting jump and convulse which I use mostly. In a word, I express my inner heart using different colors.
My portrait paintings are real, while my art creation is my thought. Take my LOOK FOR RELATIVE for example, I use bright red to foil the deserting life such as fresh blood, fresh life, bright red sweaddle and red advertisement. The painting tells us this but mean that why looking for since deserting it. The same red and foil, but the former lies on fresh life and the latter means bloody even with bloody smell. Red tablecloth, bright peony which is the color of wedding quilt of Shanxi but used for tablecloth; white tablecloth is pure but here used as abattoir; west fork and knife are used as killing tool; clasped fist to express brital people; the pet on the table is the foil of the cruel thing; grey-white background is your associational space.
