Gensheng Qi is male. I am a classic 80s generation growing up in Chinese countryside and experienced the important progress of studying in city. There are real-life people in Chinese countries. Entering their houses, they will take the best thing to you. Perhaps it’s not the best you’ve eaten, but it’s their best. Our grandpas have uncommon affections to Beijing and Chairman Mao. Many of them do not go and see Tian An Men and not see Chairman Mao until they die. How many Chinese old men cannot realize their dreams.
My grandpa died in 2003. Before he died, my family took him to Beijing and see Chairman Mao. He always said it took too much money, which is the origin of my creations. I want to realize their dreams, life of countryside old men……contrarily, city old men have seats on bus, do not buy tickets, do not pay for exhibitions……Attention to these old men is much more than countryside old men. In countryside, many old men who are more than 50 years old still work in field, still work for their sons debts, still work hard for living……I hope everyone focus on our countryside old men. I cannot do more. What I can do is just realize my dream in my paintings.
