Yue Zhang, male, was born in Jinan of Shandong province in 1985. He liked painting since he was a child. In 2001, he studied in Jinan Art Middle School. He was thought to make further study and then work. But a small thing changed this regulation on 14 May of 2003. He was sentenced to be in jail for 7 years for intended hurt a person to death. In the jail, all was different. Those days in jail, it was like what Andy said in The Shawshank Redemption: “At this time, all the life before has nothing to do with me. What’s left is to live in this place in this way.” I did not play cards, not talk with other prisoners nor collect female pictures. I just recorded what I saw and what I felt expressing my emotion. Because of good expression, I was set free home in April of 2007. Now he wants to show the pictures painted in jail to us to make more people understand the hard try of the prisoners.
