Weidong Yi, male, born in Sanming, Fujian in 1963, learned from painter Jiang Xu, Mingtang Zhang, graduated from art design of Fujian Normal University and then traveled in places of China, his works were colleted by persons at home and abroad. 1994 was important milestone of his life---convert to the Buddhism, he learned from Rabbi Zhaochan who was disciple of contemporary Xuyunshangshi(one generation of hierarch). He cultivated himself according to Buddhism doctrine, facing one Buddhism image, around by Buddhism sound, deep in lection collection, and studied generations of Buddhism art, one burning incense day and night, having ten years’ asceticism. Gaining the grace photo of Buddha of places of Xukong, he was in a tearful voice. Weidong Yi was Buddhism painter, want to repay Buddhism kindness by deep heart, he would like to develop Buddhism by form of art. Because of savvy and will, the Buddha, Bodhisattva and all living things including mountains, rivers as well as house in the nature he painted and even abstract painting all made people to feel Buddha here and there. In fact, this is the induction and resonance between aesthetic mouse and man’s soul and Buddha, which is as the painter said all were the representation of soul.
Work Introduction;
BUDDHA SOUND adopted the materials from Sichuan Leshan Big Buddha, and unscramble newly to the Buddha Image in future by professional classic oil painting skills. Work’s environment is abstruse and new which make one to realize the Buddha’s expression and brightness who inherited from Buddha after 56, 70,000,000 years. The painting’s structure is huge,taking typical Tang Dynasty’s vertical layout form as composition, creative approach behaved wealthy and extract, disclosing the artists’ mind change history, especially on the exertion of color and skill’s handling which could show his ability.  Such as the Buddha light in at the top of future Buddha head in the screen, which made one feel sublimation of Buddha’s brightness.
To the Chinese people, Maitreya is the look of one big and fat monk, who revels his chest and abdomen, sitting tailor-fashion,  twisting a string of beads by hand, was happy eyebrow and eyes, and always smiles. In fact, this prototype was taken from Qibi monk in the Five Dynasties after Tang Dynasty, was Chinese sculpt after the Buddha entered into mainland. Qibi monk’s body is very fat and his kyte is very huge, passing as Changdingzi. He always has one hop-pocket on his back, begging all the things he saw, so people called him Hop-pocket Monk. But the data of "Maitreya, Shangsheng lection" and "Maitreya, Xiasheng lection" among the Buddha lections recorded that Maitreya was born in a big Brahman family in Tianzhu in the south of ancient India. After become a monk, he became the disciple of  Sakyamuni and lived in Doushuaitian yard to be  Bodhisattva and became Buddha above the Longhua Tree in the Hualin Yard which decided that he was the dominator of the world in future, furthermore, his belief to Maitreya has big influence among the famous dignitaries and scholar-bureaucrats in the Buddha field.
His work BUDDHA SOUND figured the Maitreya image, as Buddha is a mountain, Mountain is a Buddha. It is said that he was a ancient squareman in Buddha flourishing period as he was personally on the scene. Indeed, BUDDHA SOUND was one considerable work, which made one to think further about Without Myself.
