Suyang Shang, from Suzhou, Jiangxi Province, ancestral home in Henan Province, family of painting. He’s now member of China Oil Painting Acad, director of oil painting creation office of Dunhuang Creation Center of China Artists’ Association, specially employed painter of China Gallery.Suyang Shang learnt painting with his fater since he’s a child with an extraordinary talent. In late 1970’s, he studied in Nanjing Institute of Art and Central Academy of Industrial Arts. Studying oil painting for 30 years, he has steady painting skills, abundant passion, excellent modeling skill and expression ability by colors. For years, he created many oil paintings in themes of figure of Buddha and landscapes of south of the Yangtze River, in which painting works of Su Style showed graceful water town in south of the Yangtze River, easy and highly skilled. His early works not only have modeling and serious characteristics of oil painting but also vivid features of ink painting of Chinese artist. After 1980’s, influenced by postimpressionism and contemporary art schools as well as combining with Chinese traditional art spirits, his works gradually changed to show soul image, color vision, wide brushes, and local art environment. His works place importance on unique art style of expression of one’s own language. Colors of his works are gorgeous and the brushes are wide, making the image of the object clear and vivid. The scene of painting is nature and incredible with rhyme and innervation, the whole of which figures out moment space, rich connotation and deep context. All of these soundly show his unique painting style--New Oriental Impressionism. His works have been displayed for many times at abroad, and many have been collected by many art organizations and individuals in the USA, France, Japan, Malaysia, Singapore, Taiwan, Hong Kong, etc. In 2004, he held his solo exhibitions twice at Shanghai, invited by International Art Union Net USA, ShangHai New Horizon, Oil Painting Art edit office of China Artists’ Association, and related artists’ association and culture union organizations. In all previous International Art Fair in Beijing and Shanghai he participated, he received wide positive appraise and attention. Recent years, his works were published and received special introduction for many times on Art Field, Oil Painting Art of China Artists’ Association and other related professional magazines. Many a time, his works entered important exhibition of state or province and won awards, including that one of his work Sunny after Snow was collected by China Artists’ Association Net, and that in 2004 oil painting work Impression of Western Hunan--Go to Market won Bronze Prize in the 2nd National Minority Fine Arts Exhibition posted by State Civil Administration, Culture Department, China Artists’ Association, and his work was collected.
